For 'Kontaining13: Traces' artists Hannah Harkes and Sari T.M. Kivinen will collaboratively develop a collective narrative in visual and textual forms. Through observation and interaction with each other and with the site (in and around the art container) interpretations will cause images and words to appear. The process will be responsive and will be allowed to develop without preconceived notions of the final outcome.

Kontaining13: Traces

Kontaining13: Traces takes place in a shipping container in Lasipalatsinaukio, Helsinki, from the 3rd-9th of June 2013. Kontaining is produced by Ptarmigan ry in association with The Arts Promotion Centre Finland.

This year each of the four Ptarmigan directors will be curating a section of the program according to their own artistic practice. Each artist comes from a different discipline and will produce their own artistic work and/or invite other artists from a variety of genres and backgrounds into the space. One day in the programme will be dedicated to a collaboration between the group in the space.

Kontaining is process-oriented, supports experimentation and encourages interactive and site-specific artwork and cross-media exchange. Each day there will be traces left for the next day’s activities taking into consideration the specific site of the container in Kamppi. The programme will include cross-pollination between diverse categories such as installation, performance, sound, music, screenings and participatory activities.

A solo exhibition of new work, completed on residency at Nelimarkka Museo, Alajärvi, Finland, between September and December 2012.

Ooodelleeen Ya Ooodelleeen is a visual language adaptation of the 1999 Aku Ankka comic strip Uudelleen ja uudelleen, translated for non-finnish-speakers. The strip has been adapted predominantly through the media of linocut, stone lithography, monotype, drawing and handtinting.

Translation: I started to notice it in my youth. / I was younger then. / There was a lot I didn't know. / There was a lot I learnt only as I grew older. / As I continued to grow, in mentality and in years... / I also grew more aware of it. / The more I began to pay attention.. / The more I realised that the pace at which it grows is also growing.
